All Saints Church in Wrington is a Grade I listed Church with 13th century foundations. It was remodelled with the addition of a perpendicular west tower around 1450, restored in 1859, and last reordered in the 1990’s. Over eight months Ellis and Co completed a full programme of conservation and refurbishment of the masonry and timber internal architecture. Works were specified by Benjamin Beauchamp Architects.

We lifted the floor, improved the drainage, and relaid the floor with underfloor heating, a limecrete concrete bed and hand cut Jurassic Blend Purbeck paving. Masonry details throughout the church were cleaned by hand. The walls were redecorated using a casein distemper to match the original construction materials found on site.

Masonry work included the relocation of a mediaeval font and priest effigy which were removed while the floor was relaid. Each detail was and resituated on plinth blocks carved by our masons.

Electrical and plumbing work included installation of new wiring and lighting and a new heating system and kitchen.

Layers of dark waxy dirt were meticulously removed from the timber ceiling using a combination of conservation methods. The church was redecorated throughout including the repair and gilding of decorative details in the timber ceiling.

Joinery works included the supply and installation of new North Aisle cupboards and bookcase, lifting and refitting the wainscot to enclose radiators, and modification and cleaning of the pews. Ellis and Co also constructed and installation of a new servery created by our joiners and carpenters in oak with an oiled finish.
