Extensive restoration of the Downside Abbey’s metal church roofs.

In preparation for the Abbey’s bicentenary we were commissioned to replace the pitched copper, lead and slate tile roofs of the Grade I listed Abbey Church, restoring them to their former glory. In addition, a fine stained glass windows was repaired and masonry cleaned.

Ellis and Co was commissioned to repair the roof and undertake structural work to Downside Abbey’s bell tower.

Re-roofing the Victorian Gothic Pearson Cloister and South Range.

Exeter Cathedral is one of the nation’s finest example of decorated gothic architecture and receives 250,000 visitors each year. The circa 1887 Pearson Cloister, built on the site of an earlier medieval cloister, houses the Cathedral’s education facility.

Creation of a welcome visitor experience at Gloucester Cathedral

HLF funded Project Pilgrim set out to improve access at Gloucester Cathedral and create a welcoming experience for visitors. The project included both interior and exterior works including roofing and masonry repairs.

A programme of major roof repairs to the original roof of this Gothic Revival Cathedral.

This spired cathedral was built between 1800 and 1910 and its original slate roof had not been repaired since its construction.  Over 46 weeks Ellis and Co repaired the vaulted roofs.

Roof conservation and repairs.

An impressive 12th Cathedral in the heart of the City of Wells. The western half of the north nave aisle roof is laid with lead and had suffered from severe water ingress. Between March and Oct 2015 Ellis and Co repaired the roofs under the instruction of Nick Cox Architects.
